Design-Builds

We are increasing resource-access in underserved neighborhoods through construction projects that shift authority from the designer to the designee

Community-Led Design

Powerful designers exist in every neighborhood. From residents who can identify pressing local needs, to business-owners who create pop-up community spaces, community members are uniquely in-tuned— and creative— when finding ways to support each other.

This local expertise means community-led projects are more effective at addressing the underlying needs of a neighborhood. But so often, community members lack the resources or knowledge-base to turn their ideas into built projects.

Our design-build projects equip these neighborhood-experts to plan, ideate, and construct projects from their imagination. We help translate their ideas into built projects that address food inequity, create gathering spaces, and celebrate cultural history.

We have found that not only do community-driven projects better address the needs of a neighborhood, but they also are better adopted and maintained by community members

“At first I thought the construction of the design-build itself would benefit the community the most, but now I know the real impact comes from bringing people together.”
